A Script for Common Phone Signals
Here’s a quick script for those who want to have clean, clear phone signal sounds (such as dialtone, busy signal, or DTMF frequencies) for projects needing them.
It’s a simple Bash script that contains everything needed to generate “phone tones” using SoX as the generator. This will make perfectly clean tones that can be used for any purpose, whether they are telephony-related, or as SFX for audio or video productions.
It’s the least I can do for now while I am too busy moving to do much in the way of tutorials. However, if you want to review the script, you can, and I took care not to allow the script to delete the working copies of the files, so you can actually go back and listen to each intermediate file made in the process.
Enjoy!
Update: I added a zipfile of the tones generated by this script for those who are not able to use the script and want the tones, anyways. Enjoy them in good health, and make something good with them!
